Banking and Finance Lawyer (German speaker preferred) – based in Luxembourg This full‑time position is based at the European Investment Bank’s Luxembourg headquarters and requires regular office presence. The Legal Directorate (JU) – EU Operations Department – Northern Europe Division – Austria and Germany Unit is seeking a lawyer to support operations in Austria and Germany.ResponsibilitiesDraft and negotiate legal documentation for lending and financing operations, including:Projects in Austria, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden, and EFTA countries – notably bilateral loans with banking counterparts, public entities and major corporatesProject finance operations, with assistance from external legal counselStructured finance operations, including securitisationsOther financing structures, including risk‑sharing structures on a funded and unfunded basisManage contacts and negotiations, prepare the terms of reference for external counsel, liaise and supervise their work, and complete administrative formalities vis‑à‑vis clientsUndertake research and conduct legal studies on issues of law arising in connection with EIB operations and in the context of developing new financial instruments/templatesDevelop and maintain relationships within EIB, its clients and external legal advisers, and represent EIB externallyQualificationsUniversity degree in law, preferably at Master level, and qualified in German or Austrian lawMinimum 5 years, up to 15 years of professional experience in bank lending, project finance or capital markets, preferably with an international law firm or in‑house legal department of a financial institutionSignificant experience drafting and negotiating finance documents in English and an advantage with German; experience in structured finance and/or project finance/PPP transactions is advantageousExcellent knowledge of standard computer toolsExcellent knowledge of English and/or French (level 5, B1.2 CEFR); proficiency in German is a distinct advantageStrong competencies in drafting, negotiating, and managing complex financing operationsDeadline for applications 14th January 2026#J-18808-Ljbffr
