Database & System Administrator

At Giesecke+Devrient (G+D), we develop technologies that protect identities, payments, and data infrastructures worldwide.We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator with a strong focus on Microsoft SQL Server administration, while also possessing solid knowledge of Oracle Database to join our IT team in Barcelona.You’ll play a key role in ensuring reliable, secure, and high-performing IT services by combining strong database administration skills. If you have a passion for database reliability, performance, and security, this role is for you.Key Responsibilities- Administer, monitor, and maintain MS SQL Server databases. - Manage on-premise Oracle Databases (19c or newer). - Design and implement High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions (SQL Server AlwaysOn, Oracle RAC, Oracle Data Guard, and Golden Gate replication). - Plan and execute installations, upgrades, migrations, and patching activities. - Perform backup, recovery and performance tuning to ensure optimal reliability and efficiency. - Manage database security, user access, and auditing processes.Nice to Have- Experience with Linux and Windows servers hosting database workloads. - Perform system monitoring, patching, configuration, and hardening to maintain stability and security. - Exposure to automation using Bash and PowerShell scripting. - Experience managing PostgreSQL databases. - Understanding of hybrid cloud environments (Azure, Oracle Cloud) is a plus.Operational Excellence- Participate in Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes following ITIL standards. - Document and maintain database configurations and procedures. - Provide technical support and troubleshooting for database-related incidents. - Participate in on-call rotations for 24/7 operational support. - Collaborate cross-functionally with DevOps, Networking, and Application teams.What We’re Looking For- 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator in enterprise environments. - Strong expertise in MS SQL Server administration. - Solid experience with Oracle Database. - Hands-on experience with HA/DR, performance tuning, and monitoring tools. - Familiarity with automation and Infrastructure-as-Code practices as Ansible is a plus. - Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), or similar are highly valued. - Fluent in English and Spanish (spoken and written).What’s great about working with us?- Culture & Diversity: Inclusive, people-oriented environment with a global mindset (LGBT+ friendly). - Global Collaboration: Work in international Agile teams with colleagues around the world. - Innovation & Impact: Contribute to the modernization of G+D’s global IT infrastructure and secure digital solutions. - Career Development: Continuous learning, internal mobility, and coaching opportunities. - Benefits: Flexible compensation plan (health insurance, transport, training, nursery vouchers), parking, and on-site canteen. - Work-Life Balance: Hybrid model and flexible schedule.
