Hello We are Volotea, the airline of the small and mid-sized cities in Europe.

After over a decade in the skies, we have now flown more than 70 million passengers. Today, we serve over 100 destinations in 18 countries, actively consolidating our position among the top European airlines in the industry.

In recent years, we have raised our travel capacity more than most competitors, increasing our number of aircraft, routes, destinations, employees, and markets. Throughout this journey, our team continues to excel and grow stronger as our services gain recognition amongst an expanding European audience. We are a young, dynamic, and international team that enjoys working together to grow our company during this exciting time in the airline industry.

Our main markets are France, Italy, Spain, and Greece. We have 21 operational bases: Nantes, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Marseille, Strasbourg, Lille, Lourdes, Lyon, and Brest in France; Venice, Verona, Palermo, Cagliari, Olbia, Florence, Bari, and Naples in Italy; Asturias and Bilbao in Spain; Athens in Greece; and Hamburg in Germany.

We are hiring a Sustainability Manager who has experience in interacting with different cultural environments and can work in a challenging high-growth atmosphere.

What you will do:

  1. Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a sustainability strategy that aligns with Volotea’s long-term goals, ensuring environmental sustainability is integrated into the company’s business strategy and regulatory compliance.

  2. Program Management: Oversee the execution of sustainability programs (carbon reduction, SAF, energy efficiency, waste management, and sustainable procurement), and monitor progress to ensure adherence to industry standards and regulations.

  3. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal departments (operations, finance, marketing, HR) to promote sustainability and engage with external stakeholders (governments, NGOs, customers) to advance sustainability goals.

  4. Performance Metrics and Reporting: Set KPIs to assess sustainability program effectiveness and prepare regular reports for the Executive Committee and external stakeholders.

  5. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, manage risks related to sustainability, and lead certification or verification processes (e.g., Bureau Veritas Audit, SBTi, IEnvA).

What you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Aeronautical Engineering, Sustainability, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • A proven experience in sustainability or environmental management, preferably within the aviation or transportation industry.
  • Experience reporting and communicating on sustainability topics.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful sustainability strategies and programs.
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Passion for sustainability and a commitment to driving positive environmental change.
  • Fluent English & Spanish. French or Italian will be a plus.
