Job Description

Fluor Plant Engineering is part of Fluor Corporation based in the U.S., a professional and technical solutions provider focusing on Engineering, Procurement, Construction & Maintenance (EPCM) with more than 45,000 employees and 34 offices in 50 different countries worldwide. Fluor offers Project Management and EPCM support in all phases of the project life-cycle based on the following three business groups:

  1. Energy Solutions
  2. Urban Solutions
  3. Mission Solutions

Fluor Plant Engineering office is part of the E&C Energy Solutions Sustaining Capital Projects Business Line.

We are looking for a Control Systems Engineer to support our regional team (Spain) in Tarragona Home Office.

This position supports the E&I department on assigned projects through the following Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform and check calculations for simple equipment, and solve problems of basic to moderate engineering complexity
  2. Review vendor equipment documentation within the discipline and from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements, and actively seek discrepancy resolution
  3. Develop estimates, schedules, progress reports, and key quantity tracking reports
  4. Identify deviations in job scope, estimate magnitude of changes, and initiate trends or change orders
  5. Support estimate activities
  6. Interface with project disciplines and client representatives
  7. Develop and build client relations promoting Client Service Excellence
  8. Participate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting
  9. Assist in the review of vendor lists, preparation of quotation requests, bid tabulations, purchase orders, and considerations for substitutions for technical acceptability
  10. Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines
  11. Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines
  12. Plan and organize own work assignments, as well as carry out tasks from management staff
  13. Prepare/review scopes of work for third party contracts
  14. Perform control systems sizing calculations for control valves, relief valves, flow elements, thermowells and other instrumentation
  15. Create instrument index, datasheets and generate reports in Intergraph SmartPlant Instrumentation database
  16. Develop control systems narrative specifications
  17. Acquire basic knowledge to develop control systems logic diagrams and/or cause and effect diagrams
  18. Develop control systems estimates and report on control systems progress
  19. Develop specifications and design of Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) hardware and software applications and implementation in software configuration
