We're collaborating with ModmaCon as they establish a new studio in Barcelona, seeking a Senior or Lead 2D VFX Artist to oversee high-quality visual effects tailored to the studio's unique artistic vision.

Job Description

You will play a key role in the entire VFX process, from early-stage design to final integration into the game. Your responsibilities include:

  • Designing and managing real-time VFX, shaders, and particle systems using tools like Adobe Animate, Spine, Niagara, Unity VFX Graph, and custom solutions.
  • Collaborating with Design, Art, and Programming teams to align VFX with the game's style and quality.
  • Ensuring VFX perform well across all platforms by optimizing them using profiling tools in Unity.
  • Developing shaders to enhance the game's visual quality.
  • Guiding and mentoring a team of VFX Artists, sharing best practices and helping them develop their skills.
  • Leading the creation of stylized visual effects that align with the game's artistic vision, from initial concept to final implementation.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 4 or more years of 2D VFX art experience.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing high-quality, 2D stylized visual effects.
  • Held a Senior or Lead VFX role with experience mentoring less experienced VFX Artists.
  • Experience with real-time VFX creation, including particle systems, shaders, and real-time visual effects.
  • Skills in scripting languages such as Python, C#, or similar technologies for VFX automation and enhancement.
  • A solid understanding of profiling and optimizing VFX for performance in Unity.
  • Experience with both pre-rendered VFX and real-time effects.
