About the Role
The Device Software team at eero is looking for an experienced engineer to join our Automation and fleet health team located in Taipei. This team will be collaborating closely with our existing device software team. This role will be responsible for developing our automation infrastructure and test coverage for next-generation hardware to ensure quality of new features and products we launch. Team members collaborate with other dev, QA, and software teams to continuously improve the quality of eero products. This role requires depth in software core competencies, along with a strong interest in developing automation infrastructure, extending test coverage, generating reports, and collaborating with QA and developers to investigate issues. Key Job Responsibilities
- Design and develop automation infrastructure
- Collaborate with QA to automate and extend test coverage
- Develop test stations for new products
- Optimize existing automation infrastructure and stations
- Develop and run test scripts using automation infrastructure
- Generate analysis reports for automation results
- Investigate automation test results together with QA and developers on failure analysis
- Work with the release manager to improve and automate the release process for customer-facing features
- Improve engineering processes and tools to accelerate software development velocity and code quality
- Look at metrics driving fleet health and drive automation for generating fleet health reports and support alerting
- Mentor junior engineers on projects
A Day in the Life
eero is a small and lean team, giving you the chance to make an outsized impact and take on a variety of meaningful responsibilities. In a single day, you’ll design, develop, and optimize test automation infrastructure and coverage that supports our engineering goals. You’ll implement new test cases to extend coverage and continuously scale up and improve the automation framework to handle the demands of our expanding fleet. Working closely with QA, you’ll set up new test stations for upcoming products, while also developing alerting mechanisms to catch issues as early as possible, ensuring a proactive approach to reliability.
With the flexibility to shape your day-to-day work, you’ll take on the challenge of identifying issues and updating the automation framework to increase stability. At eero, we are dedicated to serving our customers globally, tackling complex problems in automation and fleet health to enhance the connectivity experience. Partnering across Mobile, Cloud, and Data teams, you’ll drive advancements that maintain Operational Excellence, creating valuable customer insights through cutting-edge automation tools and reliable fleet health monitoring.
About the Team
We are a team of 5 FTE engineers (and growing) that are working on automating test cases for our product line. We leverage Python-based automation frameworks which include a homegrown framework and pytest-eero. Our mission is to deliver the reliable automation that enables us to run regression testing in a fast, scalable, and reliable manner to iterate quickly. This team also drives the fleet health charter which involves building scalable monitoring across millions of eeros.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
