Job Description

In a fast changing market and business environment a data strategy and a correct data management is critical to improve processes, increase revenue, and make strategic decisions.

Data stewardship plays a crucial role in overseeing data quality, governance, and privacy within an organization. Data stewards are responsible for ensuring that data is handled ethically, meeting regulatory requirements, and supporting the organization's goals and objectives. The Data Steward ensures that all the organization's data is used and managed in a way that is aligned with Animal Health business goals.

This role is a position integrated in the Data & Analytics team, part of the Marketing Operations and Business Excellence Unit, that provides support and service to the Spanish and Portuguese organization and across all the business unit and areas.

Key responsibilities include and are not limited to the following:

  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for possible new data sources and track changes to data sets as part of the data catalogue.
  • Provide guidance and governance for the use of data, ensuring data quality, lineage, and integrity.
  • Manage data vendor relationships and ensure transparency into data assets, definitions, and availability.
  • Define the data and identify assets within their own data domains to prevent conflicts with other data elements.
  • Create processes, procedures, and access controls to monitor adherence to internal policies and standards.
  • Maintain the quality of the data through customer feedback, concerns, questions, and reporting metrics.
  • Evaluate, identify, and implement corrections to address data issues.
  • Optimize workflows and communications to enhance data management processes.
  • Monitor data usage to assist teams, share best practice trends in data use, and provide insight into decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance and security of the data, including identifying potential risks and providing regulatory guidance.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as data management, information systems, or computer science.
  • Proven experience in data stewardship, data governance, or related roles.
  • Strong understanding of data management principles, data quality, and data integration.
  • Familiarity with data cataloging tools and data asset management.
  • Knowledge of data vendor management and relationship building.
  • Ability to define data domains and resolve conflicts.
  • Proficiency in creating processes, procedures, and access controls.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of compliance regulations and data security best practices.
  • Languages: high Spanish, Portuguese and English level written/spoken
