We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Secondary Special Educational Needs (SEND) Teacher to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing personalised support and guidance to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring that they receive an inclusive and enriching education within the framework of the IB curriculum. They will be a dynamic communicator who can develop effective relationships with staff, students and parents to impact positively on the inclusive, intercultural ethos of our school and empower students to reach their full potential. Knowledge of MYP and DP programmes is desirable, as well as EAL qualifications/experience.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) for students with special educational needs (SEND) in collaboration with parents, teachers, and external specialists, ensuring that learning goals and support strategies are tailored to each student's unique strengths, challenges, and aspirations.
  2. Provide differentiated instruction and support to students with SEND in both inclusive and small-group settings, adapting teaching strategies, materials, and assessments to meet the diverse learning needs of students across the secondary curriculum.
  3. Collaborate with subject teachers and pastoral teams to promote an inclusive learning environment where students with SEND are fully integrated and supported in their academic, social, and emotional development.
  4. Conduct ongoing assessments and evaluations of students' progress, strengths, and areas for growth, and use data to inform instructional planning, intervention strategies, and communication with stakeholders.
  5. Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, maintaining open and regular communication to ensure that the needs and progress of students with SEND are effectively addressed and supported.
  6. Stay informed about best practices, research, and developments in the field of special education and inclusion, and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in supporting students with diverse learning needs.
  7. Contribute to the development and implementation of school-wide policies, practices, and initiatives aimed at promoting inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility for all students.
  8. Engage in collaborative problem-solving, case conferencing, and multidisciplinary teamwork with external agencies, specialists, and support services to ensure that students with SEND receive comprehensive and coordinated support both within and beyond the school setting. Qualifications and Requirements:
  9. Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field
  10. Teaching certification/licence or equivalent qualification
  11. Experience teaching students with special educational needs (SEND), preferably in an IB or international school setting
  12. Strong understanding of inclusive education principles, differentiated instruction, and evidence-based practices in supporting students with diverse learning needs
  13. Knowledge of the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework and experience with the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and/or Diploma Programme (DP) is desirable
  14. Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
  15. Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment that values diversity, equity, and social-emotional well-being
  16. Fluency in English (additional language proficiency is an asset)
  17. Experience with educational technology and digital learning platforms
