Position Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President, Health and Safety, the H&S Specialist is accountable for the implementation, monitoring, and support of the development of Sofina Foods Canada's H&S management and associated governance. This also includes providing occupational health and safety advice to the plant operations to facilitate compliance with Plant and Sofina H&S requirements, occupational health and safety legislation, guidelines, and standards to support the plant's health and safety program and initiatives.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Deliver and facilitate Health & Safety sessions and programs at plant sites.
  2. Facilitate cross-functional learning teams to ensure H&S processes meet the needs of the end users, align with our blueprint, and comply with regulatory requirements.
  3. Partner with Plant Management to provide guidance and technical support regarding specific issues relative to health & safety programs, initiatives, and policies.
  4. Develop and implement comprehensive project plans, including task breakdowns and risk assessments.
  5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, and human resources, to ensure alignment and effective project execution.
  6. Accountable for identifying trends and areas of improvement and communicating with plant management.
  7. Conduct audits to ensure safe plant operations, facilitating corrective actions with plant management as necessary.
  8. Provide ongoing support, guidance, and participation to the Joint Health & Safety Committee.
  9. Participate in Company health & safety initiatives (such as strategic meetings, conference calls, audits, special projects, etc.) to ensure site representation, inclusion, and consistency.
  10. Influence and challenge plant management as required to help improve H&S performance and results.

Requirements:

  1. Degree, Diploma, or Certification in Engineering or Occupational Health & Safety program.
  2. Demonstrated prior experience in delivering H&S programs.
  3. Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role.
  4. PMP certification is an asset.
  5. Travel to plant sites across the GTA up to 80% of the time.
