Job Title: Research Engineer
Research area or group: Nanoscience Instrument Development Division
Description of Group/Project:
**NFFA.EU PILOT European Project** aims to establish a versatile and user-friendly electrochemical STM (EC-STM) in collaboration with Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) in Trieste and the Technical University of Munich (TUM). The project's goal is to expand operando experiments with scanning tunnelling microscopes (STM) to multiphase environments, specifically solid/liquid interfaces. An electrochemical microscope will be integrated to meet a wide range of technical requirements for user experiments, achieving high imaging resolution and flexibility in different electrochemical environments.
Main Tasks and responsibilities:
- Testing the microscope's components for full functionality assurance.
- System installation.
- Adapting control electronics and software to optimize user-friendly operation protocols.
- Commissioning the instrument and conducting experiments with the new setup.
Requirements:
- Education
Degree in Physics or Engineering
- Professional Experience
Experience in Scanning Tunneling Microscopy instrumentation and operation is required
Candidates should possess independent work abilities and excellent laboratory skills. Proficiency in English (written and spoken), proactivity, teamwork, and effective communication skills are crucial.
Summary of conditions:
- Full-time position (37.5h/week)
- Contract Length: Temporary (until 28/02/2026)
