Located in the greater Barcelona metropolitan area, The American School of Barcelona is a private, non-profit, coeducational day school serving students from 3-18 years old.

ASB offers a balanced approach to learning in an international environment for over 900 students.

ASB has a rapidly expanding Performing Arts program.

We have developed our theater and music programs over the last five years and are wanting to expand the range of drama that we teach at the school.


General Job Description


We are seeking a part time drama teacher to work 16:00 - 17:30 three days a week (Ideally Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, but there is some flexibility).

The post would cover Early Childhood and Elementary school age

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Teach high quality drama lessons
  • Teach students ECC grade
  • Planning and preparing lessons in relation to individual students' needs
  • Acquiring appropriate teaching materials and resources
  • Teaching common drama techniques in a fun and engaging manner
  • Entering and preparing students for practical examinations (if relevant)
  • Motivating students and encouraging progress
  • Liaising with academic staff and parents
  • Ensuring uptodate knowledge and awareness of examination requirements
  • Assessing students' abilities, providing feedback to students and parents
  • Preparing students for examinations, concerts, recitals and auditions

Preferred School-Wide Qualifications:

  • Three years of recent work experience teaching children, preferably in a schoolbased environment
  • Experience working in an internationally and linguistically diverse school setting
  • Preferably having a teaching qualification or similar experience
  • Ability to write and speak in English fluently
  • Effective oral and written communication within a school community
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a larger team

Conditions and Benefits

  • ASB Afterschool pay.
  • Working for the duration of after school program (typically runs from midSeptember to June)
