Product Owner
Build38 is a cyber security start-up that takes care of securing mobile apps.

We enable all sorts of solution providers (from car manufacturers to banks, from public transit operators to identity providers) to deliver their mobile use cases in a secure manner.

We already protect millions of Android and iOS endpoints with our SDK which, together with our backend analytics platform, provides the most comprehensive mobile app security solution in the market.


Build38 is an international company, with Head Quarters in Munich, a Sales office in Singapore, and a Tech Hub in Barcelona.


We are looking for an exceptional, self-directed
Product Owner to drive and manage the delivery of our products and features.

These products and services are built using the latest technologies and will be used by the developers and security experts of our customers, which are industry-leading companies in the EMEA and APAC regions.


As a Product Owner, your responsibilities will include
understanding customer and developer needs, gathering requirements, managing feature backlogs, defining release plans, and working and aligning with other teams (such as Sales and Marketing) to deliver these features.


Here is a little taste of your challenge:

  • Deeply understand the needs of current and target customers and developers through quantitative and qualitative customer research, in order to build products that meet the needs of both audiences.
  • Passionately represent the voice of the customer and developer community to internal teams.
  • Working with crossfunctional teams and prioritize features and investments to get the maximum customer benefit.
  • Create, execute and communicate the scrum team backlog to achieve the goals.
  • Own the product backlog and prioritize product enhancements, customer and internal requests by making smart judgment to get the highest value.
  • Collaborate with the Scrum Team to deliver valuable product increments by proactively driving the epics, features and stories that clearly articulate desired product functionality.
  • Manage features through their entire lifecycle, from requirements definition, to release.
  • Keep up with industry trends, technology and competitors.

Who are you? _There is no set route to become part of Build38.

But to be successful in this role, this is the kind of profile we have in mind:
_

  • At least 2 years of experience as a Product Owner in a SCRUM team. A solid understanding of the product development lifecycle and product management processes.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree or relevant experience in Computer Science, Technology or similar.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Ideally, experience defining cybersecurity products.
  • Understanding of software development industry standard frameworks (Agile, Design thinking, OKRs, etc) is also desirable.
  • Great team player, comfortable working and collaborating with other team members to achieve common goals.
  • Excellent prioritization skills. Ability to create a winning backlog and roadmap to achieve business goals while making difficult tradeoff decisions.
  • Ability to make recommendations and decisions independently and make convincing arguments for the direction of the products.
  • Passion for and ability to understand customer needs and deliver great solutions.
  • Excellent communication. A track record of successfully working with a combination of development and QA team to deliver quality products.
  • Influence and negotiation skills ability to create a shared vision across multiple stakeholders and manage expectations.
  • Strong organizational skills: task prioritization, effective time management, meeting facilitation, conflict resolution, and risk identification and mitigation.
  • Selfmotivation and ability to work autonomously with strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable with change; agent of change when the need is recognized.
  • Not constrained by role definition; contributes where ever needed to make Build38 a success.
