Purpose of the Position:
The Head, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Unit will have a key role in driving AI advancements for both UNICC and its partner organizations. With guidance from the Data and Artificial Intelligence Section (DDA), the role involves formulating the enterprise strategy, identifying relevant AI use cases, and developing implementation roadmaps.

Objectives of the Programme:
The aim of the Centre is to offer trusted ICT services and digital business solutions to its Clients and Partner Organizations.

Main duties and responsibilities:
The incumbent will lead the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Unit (DDAI) under the direct supervision of the Chief, Data and Artificial Intelligence Section (DDA). Responsibilities include overseeing cross-functional teams to deliver value through AI solutions, collaborating with various departments to identify AI needs, define project requirements, and ensure alignment with organizational goals. The role also involves designing Data and AI initiatives and frameworks, building multistakeholder communities, and engaging in initiatives related to data sharing, AI responsible design, and emerging AI technologies.

The incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing an innovative AI strategy for UNICC partners aligned with UN 2.0's objectives
  • Supervising the creation of state-of-the-art multimodal AI models to enhance data-driven decision-making
  • Leading AI model training, optimizing infrastructure, and ensuring model quality and performance
  • Collaborating with teams to identify AI use cases, integrate AI into UN partners' objectives, and deliver projects on budget and within timelines
  • Leading a team of AI experts, fostering innovation, and utilizing data analysis for informed decision-making

Recruitment Profile

Experience and Skills required:

Essential:

  • Minimum seven (7) years of IT experience, focusing on big data, blockchain, AI, machine learning
  • Expertise in building advanced multimodal models such as GPT-4, CLIP, Gemini, AudioPALM
  • Strong technical skills in areas like image understanding, text generation, and Natural Language Processing
  • Experience leading AI and research groups, managing multicultural teams, and driving innovation

Desirable:

  • Publications in the AI field are advantageous
  • Background in big data, high-tech, or financial industry is a plus

Education*:

  • Advanced degree in Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, AI, or related field

  • PhD in Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, AI, or related field
