Role Overview

If you're keen on working in a skilled React and Laravel team handling modern projects for an international client, this role is for you. We need an experienced React developer to join our scrum team in Gran Canaria, collaborating with a UK non-profit organization.

We value top-notch code craftsmanship and seek someone who enjoys being part of a friendly team environment, constantly learning about cutting-edge technologies.

Responsibilities

As a React developer in our scrum team, you'll be focused on crafting new web platforms for a UK educational charity. These platforms are PHP-based (Laravel 9) with a React frontend and SQL Server database on Azure. While your main role will be frontend-centric, a grasp of backend concepts is advantageous. Ensuring code quality is crucial; you'll be writing tests, engaging in pair programming, and daily code reviews with colleagues. Additionally, participation in sprint planning, stand-ups, and all scrum ceremonies will be part of your routine.

A typical day may involve:

  • Creating new functionalities and applications
  • Refactoring current applications
  • Writing tests
  • Redefining an API starting with documentation
  • Collaborating on code reviews to uphold quality standards

Requirements

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Proven experience in React development and strong JavaScript proficiency (including ES6+ syntax) and TypeScript knowledge
  • Familiarity with Redux
  • Proficiency in HTML & CSS using the latest features in HTML5 and CSS3
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming
  • Knowledge of REST APIs, DOM model, and offline storage
  • Experience with automated tests, particularly Jest
  • Proficiency in GIT and Databases
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent English communication skills for coordination between the Spanish team and UK client

We'd also appreciate:

  • Experience throughout the web development cycle, from coding to QA to deployment
  • Prior engagement in Agile team settings
  • Familiarity with Figma
  • Exposure to E2E tests and Cypress
  • Basic familiarity with Laravel and Azure DevOps (not mandatory)
