From Lambda Executive we are seeking a Lead Data Engineer for one of our valued clients, a large company in the FMCG industry, to join an exciting international project for an extended period of at least 1 year, with potential future opportunities within the organization.

As a Lead Data Engineer, you'll play a crucial role as the primary technical expert delivering the company's data products and shaping a clear vision for how data engineering can proactively drive positive outcomes for the business. You'll have the autonomy to establish and guide a talented team of data engineers who construct data pipelines from various source systems, store data on the company's Data Lake, and facilitate exploration and access for analytics, visualization, machine learning, and product development initiatives across the organization.

Main responsibilities:

  • Offer guidance and supervision to a team of data engineers, overseeing their workflow and processes.
  • Serve as a subject matter authority across multiple digital projects.
  • Supervise collaborations with internal stakeholders and external associates to organize and centralize data using unified taxonomies and standard identifiers.
  • Oversee the expansion and management of data pipelines from internal and external sources to support new product launches and enhance data quality.
  • Develop and manage automation and monitoring frameworks to track metrics and operational KPIs, ensuring high data pipeline quality and performance.
  • Implement best practices related to system integration, security, performance, and data governance.
  • Enable business growth by driving the adoption of data, data science, and business intelligence within the organization.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (data science and product) to facilitate solution development and POC deliberations.
  • Enhance the architectural prowess and sophistication of the data platform by engaging with enterprise architects and key internal/external partners.
  • Establish and optimize procedures for operationalizing data science models.
  • Set and oversee SLAs for data products and operational processes.
  • Experiment with innovative approaches and develop scalable solutions.
  • Create and review reusable packages and libraries.

Job requirements:

  • 6+ years of experience in software development, data engineering, or systems architecture.
  • 6+ years of experience in Data Lake Infrastructure, Data Warehousing, and ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • 6+ years of experience in SQL optimization, performance tuning, and programming languages such as Python, PySpark, Scala, etc.
  • 4+ years of experience in cloud data engineering with Azure, AWS, GCP, etc.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, team mentoring, and data team expansion experience.
  • Proficiency in various areas including multi-cloud services integration, data profiling, MPP databases, cloud infrastructure applications, data extraction/ingestion processes, version control systems, and Azure services.
  • Familiarity with agile development, DevOps, and DataOps concepts.
  • Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to influence senior management and stakeholders.
  • Effective change management capabilities, particularly in dynamic company environments.
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and priorities concurrently.
