Scientific Strategy Director

Area Director
VHIR is currently looking for an enthusiastic
Scientific Strategy Director to lead and further develop the overall
institutional positioning strategy. In this role, you will provide depth of knowledge and experience deploying the strategy
of one of the most important Research Centres linked to the health sector in Spain/Europe.

The scope of the Area includes, among others, the responsibility of institutional scientific policies, strategic planning,
strategic national and international alliances, supervision of the teaching, communication and fundraising units, and
institution's knowledge management.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Education and qualifications:

  • PhD in life sciences/ health
  • Masters' Degree in Health Management will be an advantage
  • Postgraduate Studies in Leadership will be a plus
  • Fluent in English and Spanish. Catalan will be valued

Experience and knowledge:

Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience working in the field of science management, in positions of similar responsibility
  • Proven track record in leading and managing multifunctional teams managing the coordination of institutional
strategies, preferably in the field of health/research

  • Extensive knowledge and strategic vision of the main lines of research at both local/national and international
levels

  • Knowledge of the Spanish and Catalan Scientific/Health/University systems
  • Be familiar with the EU's Open Science Policy and its ambitions

Main responsibilities and duties:

  • Provide fully support to the Director (General Manager) of the Centre regarding the leadership and management
of the Centre's Scientific Strategy

  • Boost Scientific Policy in accordance with the strategic research lines and promote scientific talent calls
  • Lead and oversee the units of which he/she is in charge, providing expert oversight and timely, consistent and
constructive feedback to the team

  • Create and nurture institutional relations/alliances and projects
  • Coordinate commissions and committees related to the Institutional scientific strategy (Scientific Advisory Board,
Internal Scientific Committee )
