NewsPlus presents up-to-the-minute company, market, and economic news, along with in-depth analysis, all delivered through a user-friendly web interface. Operating on a rotational schedule, NewsPlus editors collaborate to curate breaking news, features, and insights sourced from Dow Jones publications - such as the Wall Street Journal - to be showcased on the NewsPlus platform.
NewsPlus stands as a vital element of Dow Jones's professional content sector, highly esteemed by banking institutions, financial firms, brokers, and industry specialists. Furthermore, stories premiered on the platform often debut on the main Wall Street Journal site and in printed publications.
Additionally, NewsPlus content fuels APIs that supply numerous third-party platforms.
Team members at NewsPlus must thrive in a digital news environment, possessing a keen eye for news judgment, superb written English, meticulous attention to detail, and adept organizational skills. An avid interest in current affairs, economics, business, and finance is crucial, alongside an understanding of audience news consumption. Familiarity with financial markets, corporate news, and reporting experience is advantageous.
Proficiency in adapting to software and technology swiftly, notably in news production and data handling, is key. The role also involves real-time communication with fellow editors, reporters, and coverage leaders regionally and globally. Flexibility in working varying shifts and occasional early starts may be required.
The position is based in a lively office in Barcelona, forming part of the multilingual newsroom.
You will:
- Exercise exceptional news judgment to pinpoint crucial stories for professionals, efficiently condensing them into concise briefs from a vast pool of content.
- Adhere to Dow Jones's high standards and ethical guidelines.
- Identify and cater to the primary audiences of Dow Jones Newswires, understanding their requirements and expectations.
- Establish connections between content and the audience.
- Collaborate with colleagues from various groups, including Dow Jones Newswires and WSJ, in different bureaus and regions.
- Communicate clearly and empathetically.
- Demonstrate proactive behavior over reactivity.
