Job Summary:

We are seeking a Junior Physical Digital Design Engineer to join our Design Engineers team at one of our office locations in Europe. This position is on-site, with no remote work option available.

As a Physical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for all aspects of physical design and implementation. Your role will involve contributing to the establishment of physical design methodologies and flow automation.

The responsibilities of the Physical Design Engineer include working on digital design implementation and mixed-signal IC verification using standard EDA tools. The products you will work on designing and verifying encompass power management and mixed signal functions.

Our product range at MPS includes a variety of items such as switching regulators, sensors, motor control, display drivers, audio amplifiers, and power management ICs tailored for fast-growing markets like broadband modems, notebooks, cell phones, telecom, fiber optics, digital cameras, automobiles, and network equipment.

Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for physical design, development, & verification of digital / mixed-signal IC's
  • Chip & block floorplan/implementation, power/clock distribution, chip assembly, P&R, STA, & LVS/DRC to closure
  • Collaborate closely with digital/analog design team for physical implementation and custom analog blocks/interface/IP's
Qualifications:
  • Requires advanced degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 1+ years (preferred) of Physical Digital Design experience.
  • 2+ years (preferred) ASIC design, verification, or related work experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and a collaborative teamwork approach
  • Capability to work independently, adhere to design specifications, and complete tasks to achieve milestones with high quality
  • Thorough understanding of ASIC development process and digital design techniques
  • Experience with programming, scripting, and automation languages like Perl/TCL/Unix/Python
  • Strong technical proficiency in areas such as: Verilog/System Verilog coding, Synthesis, CTS, DFT, Extraction, and STA closure across multiple process corners, among others.
  • Desired experience in Physical SOC design, knowledge of power management industry/applications, and familiarity with interfaces like I2C, SPI, USB, PMBUS, etc.
