Role Purpose:
The Product Architect role is accountable for leading the business product design, development, successful delivery, in-life evolution and management of a range of products related to Private Mobile Networks.
The Product Architect will work closely with other members of the Vodafone team, including Product Management, Complex Customer Solutions, Technology Product Owners, Agile Delivery Managers, Digital & IT, Service and Commercial managers, Sales, Network Engineering and Network Operations to ensure that the solution deployed is fit for purpose and can be readily deployed and operated by Vodafone across a global footprint.
The role is global in nature and will be dealing with large multinationals with presence in multiple countries, both within Vodafone's Operating Country footprint, in Partner networks and off-net locations.
The Product Architect will:
- Own the highlevel design and be responsible for translation of functional and nonfunctional requirements into solutions that span the endtoend product ambition; including service experience; customer interfaces; development requirements; Capex/Opex budget needs and detailed costs.
- deliver a solution which is modular in design to enable elements to be broken into distinct components for delivery decisions, underpinning the best execution of the business case for current and future product evolution.
- Have complete oversight of the scope/nature of design testing and review/signoff of exit documentation for build & test.
- Clearly articulate and provide guidance and leadership to the functional teams (Networks/IT/Service Design/Engineering/Customer Services/Security/Regulatory/Legal/Go to Market etc.) on the interpretation of the requirements. Assisting the functional teams in development of key product deliverables.
Core competencies, knowledge and experience:
- Deep understanding of Private Mobile Networks and related technology: 4G/LTE and 5G mobile network architectures, 5G slicing, Private APNs, Virtualisation, Wi-Fi.
- Good understanding of the software aspects of new LTE/5G solutions: API exposure layer, orchestration, CI/CD deployment mechanisms. Ability to perform a deployment is recommended.
- Familiar with 3GPP Industrial IoT (IIoT) evolution aspects (precise positioning, Time sensitive network, nonpublic networks.).
- Good understanding of SIM technology, SIM provisioning, SIM security.
- Broad understanding of Cloud concepts, Multi-Access Edge Computing technologies and options for core network deployment in the cloud. AWS experience is a plus.
- Evidenced experience with design, implementation and roll out of Mobile or IoT based Products and Services. Specific experience in Mobile Private Network is a plus.
- Ability to deep dive with the engineering and operations teams to address technical design challenges.
- A proactive individual, with success leading and working within a global virtual team with the ability to Influence and build effective relationships with peers and senior stakeholders across the business.
- Strong, clear communication capabilities and experience presenting to and influencing senior stakeholders in a global corporation.
- Experience with IT Managed Services desired, preferably with ITIL experience.
- 5+ years' experience dealing with multinational corporate customer needs and global suppliers in a solution design, product architecture, engineering, or consultancy role.
