What does a great Associate Technical Product Manager do?

We are currently seeking an Associate Technical Product Manager to join our Global Product Management team. If you are looking to be challenged daily, have a desire to work with a team to develop solutions to some of the travel industry's most challenging issues, and have an interest in the complexity of products that drive real-time simultaneous transactions in multiple systems around the world with ongoing data synchronization, then this may be the right job for you.

Technical Product Managers in Travelport are responsible for delivering the features as prioritised by the Product Manager. The Associate Technical Product Manager will be working closely with a software engineering team to revise the feature details and enable the team to deliver features to the agreed requirements. The Technical Product Manager is also responsible for supporting and working with their team to build continuous improvement into their Agile Product Delivery approach so we can release a continuous flow of services and demonstrable value to customers. This position will require collaboration with Product Managers, other Technical Product Managers, and other resources across Delivery Groups to ensure consolidation and consistency across many products.

The Associate Technical Product Manager – Unattended Agency Automation will work alongside Technical Product Managers to develop a deep understanding of the day-to-day tasks travel agencies need to undertake when managing travel bookings and use this to develop Travelport's suite of Robotic Process Automation systems. You will be primarily developing a new self-service tool that removes repetitive tasks and make our agency customers more efficient.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure product delivery success by executing best practices in an Agile environment.
  • Work alongside Technical Product Managers to synchronize with the Product Manager and Engineering to ensure new work is brought into the backlog and prioritized appropriately across the Delivery Group.
  • Create user stories from collated requirements by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, working with the development team/s to implement the user stories including all undocumented edge cases and non-functional requirements (performance, scale, redundancy etc.)
  • Responsible for ensuring everyone in the team understands the user story and is aligned in the sprint
  • Responsible for prioritization of the team backlog
  • Responsible for User Acceptance Criteria & Sign Off
  • Participate in daily stand up, planning meetings and sprint reviews or comparable ceremonies, to ensure team schedules/tasks reflect the prioritized backlogs. Contribute to lessons learned to continually improve team's performance
  • Accountable for system demos
  • The TPM will develop deep functional product knowledge and an understanding of the technical composition of systems that support it
  • The Associate Technical Product Manager will have an understanding of the market and is focused on maximizing value for the customer.

What we look for/who would prosper in this role?

  • Technical Product Manager, Product Owner and/or Business Analyst experience.
  • Working knowledge of Agile principles
  • Exposure to technical concepts, product owner techniques, tools & principles
  • Experience providing online documentation and other resources to external users
  • Technical/Developer background is a plus
  • Excellent verbal, written and 'attention to detail skills.
  • Ability and desire to work with people all over the world
  • Excellent collaboration skills and ability to influence cross-functional teams and facilitate conversations that lead to agreed direction.
  • Capacity to seek consensus and agreement across multiple stakeholders, bringing diverse opinions together
  • Ability to resolve conflict for the team and within the team; influencing internal stakeholders
  • Travel industry experience is ideal
  • Language: English (Proficient)
