The Diabetes District sales leader is responsible for the overall coordination, functional management, strategy development and leadership for all regional sales activities of the Diabetes business.

Defines, implements, supervises and drives strategic direction, execution, objectives and targets for the Diabetes business in Spain in accordance with country and region strategy, to gain maximum profitable sales and market share.

Allocates and utilizes Medtronic resources in the most effective way. Identifies and grows human talent and builds/develops a strong, performance driven team to enhance Medtronic's reputation in the market.

A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Planning and executing of Sales Plans and strategies.
  • Defining the revenue and expense strategy, in line with the country P&L strategy.
  • Permanently evaluating sales and expense actuals versus plan in high attention to the details and intervenes in an efficient and timely manner in the case of deviations.
  • Developing the yearly Diabetes Business Plan, sets challenging (Sales etc.) targets and objectives for the area sales representatives within the Diabetes division.
  • Defining and adopting pricing schemes, introduces pricing guidelines and deal structures for different sales functions, controls implementation and liaises with the Business Manager in case of necessary exemptions.
  • Using Medtronic's HR tools to identify, attracting and growing human talent in order to build a strong, performance driven team. Creating an atmosphere of cooperation within the team.
  • Driving the mindset changes needed for developing the team.
  • Evaluating individual and team results versus targets. Assessing team members versus the Sales Force Competencies and in daily practice (during regular "ridealongs") and providing constructive feedback.
  • Proactively reporting all market, account, and competitive information and trends (e.g., key decision makers, implant rate) in a complete and timely fashion.
  • Immediately and accurately reporting all negative customer or product related events, e.g. customer feedback or other (legal) issues and risks etc.

Must Haves

  • Degree in Engineering, Lifescience, Marketing, Business Administration or Biology or another relevant, advanced degree
  • Demonstrated Good selling techniques and excellent selling strategies including clinical selling with a track record of success in his previous positions
  • Advanced Negotiation skills and Strategic Thinking
  • Thorough knowledge of the healthcare industry and the decisionmaking process with customers (economic buyer, reimbursement)
  • Fluency in English
  • Leadership and effective communication
  • At least 8 years' experience in the medical industry, of which minimum 4 years in a sales role
  • Advanced People Management skills, strong leader and motivator
  • Previous experience in diabetes market or in a similar role
  • Used to work in very competitive markets
  • Used to work in very diverse teams (multidisciplinary or cross functional)
  • Experience as Project or functional leader
