This is what you will do:
Alexion is looking for a sharp-minded, assertive, and energetic data leader who will be responsible for developing strategies and delivering technical projects/programs to meet the short
- and long-term data platform goals. They should be able to architect and design data integration solutions to meet demands across the company, driving value from information and ensuring end-to-end delivery.

This individual will play a critical role in the success of the Alexion organization. S/he will be a highly visible IT leader with an interface to all levels of Alexion leadership. S/he will partner cross-functionally to proactively identify opportunities and to enable better decision making at Alexion. S/he will also support the development of data pipelines and new data integration paradigms to support the global business.

The individual must be confident and be an exceptionally strong collaborator, capable of contributing innovative thoughts and ideas to create meaningful value for the functions and for the enterprise.

S/he must also adopt corporate leader competencies; attract and develop top talent, drive results, possess a strategic mindset, mange ambiguity and complexity, optimize work processes and drive engagement.


You will be responsible for:

  • Proactively identify opportunities/threats leveraging data platforms and data integration to enable better decision making at Alexion
  • Act as a central point of expertise and drive crossfunctional collaboration to provide advice on key strategic questions
  • Educate executive, business and IT team members about the business value of data management platforms
  • Collaborate with leadership and within IT to support crossfunctional strategies and tactics using data, which contribute directly to the growth and optimization of Alexion's business
  • Work with cross functional teams to structure problems, identify appropriate data sources, extract data, and develop integrated information delivery solutions
  • Participate and provide technical leadership in all phases of a project from discovery and planning through implementation and delivery
  • Evolve data platforms, tools, and methods
  • Responsively provide high quality solutions and answers to adhoc data requests

You will need to have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in data engineering, business analysis and data management
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and creative problemsolving skills including the ability to convey analytical insights in actionable business terms
  • Highly motivated selfstarter with the confidence and ability to present complex information concisely and effectively to all audiences, including senior leaders and groups
  • Strong analytical, logical thinking and organizational skills, backed by a logical approach, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to anticipate future business trends and to integrate that context into IT and business practices
  • Experience leading technical teams and individuals across geographies
  • Track record of effective functional and crossfunctional collaboration and leadership
  • Detailoriented, selfstarter, able to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Experience using web services and prebuilt Data Lake architectures
  • Desire and ability to learn/implement new tools and analytic capabilities
  • Github portfolio of projects/kaggle competition participation or personal website/blog
  • Experience building collaborative environments optimized for data scientists with elastic compute configurations, and a focus on enabling reproducible research and markdown
  • Experience designing and developing methods, processes, and systems to consolidate and analyse structured and unstructured data, from diverse sources including "big data" sources
  • Proven ability to design, articulate, and deliver complex, largescale data solutions that are scalable, robust, secure, and resilient
  • Pharmaceutical or Life Sciences industry experience a plus
  • Experience using big data technologies (Hadoop, Hive, HBase, Spark, EMR, etc.)
  • Experience using dBT, Fivetran, GitHub, Apache Airflow
  • Extensive handson experience building and maintaining ETL / ELT frameworks and data orchestration pipelines.
  • AWS Architecture Framework knowledge and certification
