We are in the process of transforming across this area, implementing modern data engineering technology stacks. Fundamental to success is the way we enable engineers to move data in pipelines; we are actively transforming from traditional extract, transform and load (ETL) technology stacks to ones which support extract, load, transform (ELT)You'll be integral in leading, shaping and building out the technologies, whilst guiding AZ data engineers through the processes and standard methodologies for their use across large scale greenfield and migration projects.
What you'll do As lead engineer you will be responsible for the end-to-end engineering efforts (including build, configuration, integration, automation, deployment, support and for streamlining implementation).
We run our technologies in a Hub and Spoke model – effectively operating as an internal SaaS team.You'll drive the technical direction of our tech stacks, ensuring we have the right security, rigour, integrations, and automation to work efficiently, safely and at speed.
Deliver effective support & service management, ensuring key service metrics and KPIs are governed, maintained, and improved progressivelyYou will establish strong working relationships with the data teams, third parties and partners to develop and oversee and aligned strategy of onboarding and migration to enterprise technologiesAdvocate and advance modern, agile development practices and help develop and evangelise phenomenal engineering culture within the team.
As lead engineer, you will help with hiring, coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career developmentYou'll be seen as the go-to person for the ELT technology stack and will be integral as to how it is adopted and used by data engineers and IT teams.
Essential for the role We consider individuals in this role to be our top tier Engineers; this means you need to be capable of working in multiple spaces and are likely to be the most experienced and skilled engineer on the team.
You will raise expectations within the whole team, solve complex technical problems and work alongside complementary delivery platforms.You should apply if You have proven ability to work with ELT technologies such as Fivetran, dbt or similarYou are able to show where you have successfully worked with an enterprise approach and having implemented good governance practices, standards and industrystandard methodologiesYou have demonstrable experience of working with multiple internal collaborators to deliver sophisticated roadmapsYou have a strong experience in working in partnership with technical vendorsStrong history as a lead data engineer; ran global technical teams with strong Team Leadership skillsYou have experience working in a global organization with multi-partners, collaborators and team members are spread out in a diverse culture environmentYou have good exposure to Cloud environmentsYou have good awareness and experience working with GxP and SOX compliant platforms and services; and understand key concepts behind data security & protection, access based policies, back up and disaster recoveryWhy AstraZeneca?
