About our Insight Data Engineering team:

Accountabilities:


As a Senior Scientist or Associate Director data engineer in our R&D Insight Data Engineering team, you will be responsible for delivering fit-for-purpose solutions to our CPSS (Clinical Pharmacology & Safety Science) colleagues.

This includes receiving requirements from stakeholders, designing solutions that meet those requirements, leading the delivery (including test and release) of those solutions, and collaborating closely with our colleagues in R&D IT for the handover into BAU service.


Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Delivery experience across key elements of the data and analytics domain.
  • Great interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to delivery. Ability to communicate effectively with different audiences (written and spoken) in English.
  • Ability to understand business needs and translate them into a solution.
  • Strong analytical and data manipulation ability.
  • Strong data visualisation skills.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, data science/engineering, or related field.
  • Excellent problemsolving, analytical, and critical thinking skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Experience with ETL tools (Snaplogic, informatica, Snowflake pipes, etc).
  • Familiarity with database technologies (e.g. snowflake, oracle, RDBMS, NoSQL, etc).
  • Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Snowflake, etc).
  • Knowledge of CI/CD (including git).
  • Experience with Data Warehousing and Data modelling (3NF, Star Schema).
  • Ability to interrogate, analyse and document data systems.
  • Proficiency in Programming Languages (Python, R, SQL, etc.).
  • Experience of technical leadership in data and analytics.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Familiarity with Data visualisation Tools such as PowerBI, Spotfire, Rshiny, Python Dash or Flask, Streamlit, etc.
  • Experience architecting data platforms, particularly Data Mesh architectures.
  • Knowledge of Agile practises, particularly SCRUM and SAFe as well as Kanban.
  • Familiarity with ML and AI workflows and AIdriven solutions.
  • Understanding of the Drug Development process, particularly preclinical.
