ROLE SUMMARY:Sotogrande International School is a prominent educational institution focused on creating an inclusive and diverse learning environment. Committed to academic excellence and overall development, we aim to empower students to become confident, caring, and globally-aware individuals.Role Overview:We are looking for a dedicated and experienced SENDCo to oversee the inclusive education provision at SIS. The role involves providing strategic leadership, monitoring progress, and cultivating high-achieving classrooms that support all students. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader fostering effective relationships within the school community and external organizations. They will contribute positively to the inclusive and intercultural ethos of our institution, empowering students while offering guidance, support, and training to teachers.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead the Special Educational Needs provision, ensuring students with SEND receive appropriate support for academic and social success.
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with students, parents, staff, and external bodies to promote collaboration and students' overall well-being.
  • Manage the English Language Development program for ELLs.
  • Offer advice, guidance, and training to teachers on effective strategies for supporting SEND students in mainstream classrooms.
  • Collaborate with school leadership to implement policies promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Coordinate with Admissions for student placement and provide expertise on the best support.
  • Act as Safeguarding Lead, working closely on child protection matters.
  • Oversee the 1:1 student support program for learners with complex needs.
  • Conduct pupil assessments, monitor progress, and maintain accurate records.
  • Lead SEND staff in implementing best practices and strategies to support student needs.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience with students with SEND.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire others.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices in SEND.
  • Fluency in English (Spanish skills beneficial).
