What you need to know:


The Group Manager, A&H - Spain, reporting to the Underwriting Lead, A&H will contribute by underwriting new & renewal business, developing, and maintaining relationships with new and existing brokers, building strong client relationships and working to carry out agreed strategies.

Job Responsibilities

Drive Group Business Strategies and Execution.

  • Manage Group underwriting to achieve profitable growth, including underwriting new business, renewals, quotes, and other transactions.
  • Be focused on the planning, execution, and achievement of the business targets.
  • Identify new business opportunities by driving, maintaining, and tracking a rich pipeline
  • Identify, prospect, and acquire partners through disciplined consultative sales process
  • Manage relationships with Clients & Brokers and ensure that internally the organization is moving forward to support business execution.
  • Accountability for the sustained growth and underwriting results with respect to profitability and loss ratio within region
  • Coordinate underwriting excellence across the A&H product line, by establishing and ensuring adherence to risk appetite, line setting, standards and guidelines, and ensure rating and pricing adequacy.
  • Support the development of new products and/or product enhancements
  • Support the execution of agreed underwriting corrective action plans
  • Underwrite and service risks to an acceptable AIG standard.
  • Develop a profitable book of business through a selection of brokers.
  • Make informed underwriting decisions within the authority delegated.
  • Produce files for Peer Reviews to the agreed AIG A&H Division standards.
  • Comply with key regulatory and risk management responsibilities, by implementing AIG underwriting policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Ensure that AIG customers are treated fairly in accordance with AIG standards and maintain high service levels to both internal and external customers
  • Direct internal and external resources to design and prototype customer solutions and products
- continuously improving specific pipeline KPIs.

  • Lead contract negotiation efforts with partners and the public sector, liaising internally with Legal & Compliance
  • Work with Marketing team to develop various sales collateral to support business development
  • Maintain AIG standards and service levels.
  • Prepare bespoke policy documentation for review by Senior Underwriters.
  • Maintain focus on industry practices, developments and pricing.
  • Produce accurate and timely management information for senior management.
Work with multiple stakeholders to plan and execute business

  • Establish and leverage strong relationships with Clients, Brokers and Partners
  • Able to internally engage with Regional & Global Leadership.
  • Integrator: Collaborate with multiple technical, functional, distribution and client/broker management resources, local, regional, and global, across the wider business.
  • Build and maintain appropriate, strong, and effective business relationships with key external stakeholders.
  • Drive a culture that promotes collaboration, diversity, and inclusion

What we're looking for:
Technical Skills and Experience

  • Strong and relevant experience of product and local market experience, with underwriting experience with group, travel, specialty insurance products and affinity segment
  • Ability to influence others to develop business, negotiate agreement or influence regional management to support decisions and actions.
  • Strong understanding of sales process, including presale and postsale requirements of the business
  • Strong understanding of the local insurance broker community, plus the ability to build relationships with brokers and senior management.
  • Demonstrable track record of successful client management and client acquisition
  • Analytical and quantitative skills
  • Strong customer service ethic, with a sound understanding of the business processes
  • Ability to read and analyze P&L statements with an understanding of the key performance indicators
