SAM (Santander Asset Management) is looking for an
OPERATIONAL DUE DILIGENCE MANAGER based in our BOADILLA DEL MONTE office.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING


As member of Santander Wealth Management & Insurance you will have to perform operational due diligence reviews on prospective and existing third party Funds, which includes not only Traditional Funds (Mutual Funds and ETFs) but also Alternative Funds opportunities (Private Equity, Real Estate, Private Debt...).

We need someone like you to help us in different fronts:

  • Perform operational due diligence reviews on prospective and existing Traditional (Mutual Funds and ETFs) and Alternative Funds (Private Equity, Real Estate, Infrastructure, Venture Capital).
  • ODD activities include a riskbased approach in analyzing and assessing processes, systems, documentation, personnel and overall controls of the Asset Managers and Funds, pertaining to the following areas: Fund terms and Governance, Legal and Regulatory, Compliance, Trade Operations, Cash Controls, Counterparty Risk Management, Valuation, IT Infrastructure and Cybersecurity.
  • Onsite meetings with key staff at the investment management firm (generally including the COO, CRO, CCO and supporting staff) is also required during the ODD process.
  • Completion of thorough risk due diligence reports on fund managers on a timely basis, highlighting the Findings from the review. Then present it to the risk committees.
  • Perform ongoing monitoring of existing funds and investment managers and raise alerts if needed.

EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience in working in the funds industry.
  • Strong understanding of the trade flow of the operations in an Investment Management Firm.
  • Knowledge of operational best practice in the funds industry.
  • Knowledge of UCITS regulatory environment.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, or similar. Master ́s degree is a plus.
  • CAIA is desirable.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • A strong understanding of the risks inherent within fund investments and financial instruments.
  • Knowledgeable in a wide range of asset classes, financial instruments and alternative investment strategies not limited to hedge, private equity and credit, real estate and infrastructure.
  • 5+ years of experience in audit, investment risk, operational risk, manager selection or operations.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • An understanding of risk models and concepts such as tracking error, VaR, and stress testing methodologies together with an appreciation of their limitations and strong analytical skills including an ability to conduct quantitative analysis.
  • Knowledge of Access/virtual basic
  • Desirable Python
  • High level of English is a must.
