The Role

PrecisionTox is a project funded by European sources with the objective of establishing an innovative, cost-effective testing approach for chemical safety. The aim is to revolutionize regulatory toxicology by eliminating animal testing, reducing uncertainties, and defining safety factors in human health risk assessments. This will be achieved by identifying key molecular biomarkers predictive of adverse health effects caused by chemicals, integrating different animal species and a mix of genomics, metabolomics, evolutionary theory, quantitative genetics, data science, toxicology, and law.

Within this project, our group at the CRG focuses on analyzing RNA-seq data from various model species and human cell lines treated with toxic compounds. The goal is to use computational methods to evaluate the impact of these compounds on gene expression across species and assess their predictive capabilities for human toxicity. This project aligns with our broader objective of connecting genomes to phenomes across various species.

We are looking for a skilled post-doctoral researcher with a strong computational background to join our team.

About the Lab

Our lab's research revolves around decoding information in genomic sequences and understanding its processing from DNA to protein sequences. We focus on epigenetic gene regulation, the relationship between molecular and organismal phenotypes, and identifying functional genome regions across all living beings. Our group conducts large-scale data analysis, method development, and participates in international genomics projects.

Professional Experience

  • Strong computational background

Education and Training

  • PhD in relevant fields

  • Proficient in spoken and written English

  • Proficient in R or Python
