Summary:

Responsibilities:

  • Get familiar with wavelet construction via the liMing scheme
  • Study wavelet taskspecificity with simple deep learning models (research question: is there truly a wavelet for each task?).
  • Explore encoder/decoder deep learning frontends where wavelet parameters are optimized jointly with the task (research question: is there an existent task in which learnable wavelets can outperform existing frontends?).
  • Explore encoder/decoder scenarios where wavelet parameters are generated, e

g through hypernetworks (research question:
are different wavelets needed for different input signals?).

  • Reproducing and extending existing research by building/adapting and training suitable neural networks.
  • Communicate research progress and document code and results. Write technical reports and/or research papers.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Audiovisual or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or similar.
  • Knowledge of machine/deep learning. Knowledge of PyTorch/Tensorflow.
