The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education.

ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level.

Research is organized in the following main areas, Malaria and other Infectious Diseases, Maternal, Child and reproductive Health, Urban Health and Child and environmental health, Climate & Non-Communicable Diseases.

ISGlobal is accredited with the Severo Ochoa distinction, a seal of excellence of the Spanish Science Ministry.

    What We Are Looking for:

ISGlobal is looking for a motivated Scientific Coordinator to work on the ATHLETE (Advancing Tools for Human Early Lifecourse Exposome Research and Translation) project.

ATHLETE project has received funding from H2020 (grant agreement and aims to implement the exposome in birth cohorts in order to study the effects of a wide range of community-level and individual-level environmental risk factors on mental, cardiometabolic, and respiratory health outcomes and associated biological pathways during the first 2 decades of life.

The Scientific Coordinator will closely work with the Principal Investigator to oversee the overall scientific and technical progress of the project.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Initiate and maintain communications with Work Package leaders and partner institutions to plan and implement research activities
  • Facilitate collaboration between different areas of expertise in the project
  • Coordinate data inventories, harmonization and catalogue with participating cohorts
  • Monitor scientific and technical progress of the project
  • Elaborate and/or review protocols and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Oversee data processing and cleaning
  • Participate in project meetings
  • Participate in report and paper writing
  • Participate in project dissemination and communication activities

Auxiliar task:

  • This job description reflects the present requirements of the post but may evolve at any time in the future as duties and responsibilities change and/or develop providing there is appropriate consultation with the postholder.

Training and experience /Qualifications:

  • PhD in Epidemiology, Public Health or related disciplines.
  • Experience in environmental epidemiology and longitudinal studies.
  • Experience in large, complex health research projects.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Leadership skills to provide guidance to numerous partners.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate scientific activities with flexibility to adjust
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Team player, yet capable of working autonomously, rational thinker.
  • Eager to learn and proactive.
  • Excellent organization skills.
The post holder will adhere to ISGlobal principles contained in People management policy, including Equity, diversity and health safety. The post holder will respect, and accountable to ensure ISGlobal policies and procedures.

Language level:

  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken).

Conditions:

  • Duration: 2 years
  • Starting date: 1 June 202
  • Contract: (part or full time) parttime: 50%
  • Salary Range: euros gross

Selection Process:


The selection process is designed in two phases:1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation.

To assess the person's skills and CV.

  • Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.
If needed any technical test could be pass. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.
