    Context And Mission
  • In our pursuit, we focus on a widerange of key societal research areas such as Population changes and living arrangements, Democratic Quality, Social Media and Information Environment, Social-Ecology, Education and Labor Market, Law technologies, Social Innovation, and History and Cultural Heritage. Employing a mixed of complex statistical models, AI/Machine Learning, Large Language Models (LLMs), Agent-Based Modeling (ABM), Social Network Analysis (SNA), among others, our advanced computational methods are applied to diverse datasets from official statistics, surveys, social media, news, laws, historical archives, current data archives, citizens' volunteered data, government and industry data.
  • We are seeking a dynamic senior researcher on Science for Policy. You will play a pivotal role in helping transfer the CSSH program's research into public policies, participating, when possible, in the early stages of project design. You will also contribute to building best practices and mechanisms to access public administration data for research. You will initially report to Dr. Mercè Crosas, director of the CSSH department.
    Key Duties
  • Lead and participate in research projects on Science for Policy.
  • Lead the transfer of research results to public policies, participating, whenever possible, in the design of research projects, and accompanying researchers during the whole process to optimize transfer to policy.
  • Contribute to facilitating collaboration with public administrations and access to public data for research purposes.
  • Write and submit project proposals of high scientific quality related to Science for Policy to seek competitive financial support at the international and European levels.
  • Conduct innovative research in the field of Science for Policy. Collaborate with internal and external research groups, and policymakers to optimize research transfer and impact.

Requirements:

  • Education
  • PhD in Political Science
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
  • Knowledge of policymaking processes, including how policies are developed, implemented, and evaluated.
  • At least 5 years of experience assuming leading roles in public organizations
  • Experience in advising public organizations based on research findings (Science for Policy)
  • Proven track record of conducting highquality research in Political Science, as evidenced by publications in peerreviewed scientific journals.
  • Experience in coordinating and managing research projects in Political Science
  • Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
  • Clear understanding of ethical considerations in research and policy.
  • Experience in grant writing and securing research funding from competitive funding agencies.
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary projects and environments, with the facility to understand stakeholder needs and priorities.
  • Competences
  • Excellent problemsolving skills, with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to scientific rigor.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing policy landscapes and research findings.
  • Problemsolving skills to address challenges in research transfer. Skills in advocating for researchinformed policies, as well as negotiating and persuading policymakers and other stakeholders.
    Conditions
  • The position will be located at BSC within the Directors Department
  • We offer a parttime contract (18,75h/week), a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with stateoftheart infrastructure, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, support to the relocation procedures
  • Duration: Openended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration
  • Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement
