We’re hiring a Research Associate

As Research Associate you will be part of the multi-crop team to provide support to the different breeding and testing programs in sunflower and corn executing agronomic practices ensuring high quality data.

You Will Be Part of Growing Team
Field Operations (80%)Manage day-to-day field operations in nurseries and trial network. Including: land identification, soil preparation; location creation and mapping using Corteva´s software, planting, field agronomic management (spraying / weed control) and harvest.Support seed preparation activities in coordination with seed handling group.Support product characterization and data collection according to established protocols as requires in the annual experiment plan.Ensure adequate application of pesticides as required for agronomic management and selective herbicide tolerance nurseries in compliance with safety standards in CortevaOrganize and supervise work of seasonal employees for field managementServe as Drone pilot to collect remote sensing data in maize and sunflower testing networkOrganization, Coordination and Communication (20%):Communicate with site leadership team about workload flow, capital needs and challenges.Improve efficiency and safety of daily work operations, with special attention to field equipment management.Interact with REST Team to ensure adequate maintenance, operations and software updates of field equipmentInteract with EHS&S team in Seville to implement safety standards in field operations ensuring seasonal employees are trained and equipped with appropriate PPE’s
Your Challenge
Make Daily decisions associated to trial and field agronomic management.Collect high value data to bring to the market the next generation of Maize and Sunflower hybridsDecide priority of work activities.Manage a group of employees in a very dynamic environment to achieve goals.Travel to different locations within the agricultural region to plant and harvest trials in farmer´s land.

Qualifications

To Grow What Matters, You Will Need
MS University degree (preferred), University degree, or highly technical experience in Agronomy or related field and minimum of 3 years of industry related experience, or equivalent amounts of relevant education and experience.Competencies: Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills are required. Candidates must be competent with computer hardware and software programs including Microsoft Office.Candidates should possess a demonstrated ability to work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. The candidate must have the ability to train/supervise temporary employees and have the ability to work as a strong team member as well as work independently when needed.Ability to operate farm equipment is required. This includes, but is not limited to: planting equipment, herbicide applicators, and plot harvest equipment. Additional certifications may be required in the future. Candidate should have pesticide applicator and UAS operator license.Travel to testing locations with frequent overnight will be necessary. During planting and harvest period some weekends may be available to work.
