Mission
The position of Business Manager, with a focus on general Management, is a pivotal role within the organisation, where you will be a key force behind the School of Barcelona’s continued success and growth story. In close collaboration with the Executive Principal, your focus will encompass revenue generation, cost management and smart investment; working to ensure long-term financial success, building maximum customer satisfaction, and fulfilling all strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning

  • Forward-Looking Strategy: Collaborate with the Executive Principal to craft a visionary 5-year plan, annual budgets and marketing strategies, ensuring a roadmap for sustained success.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and inspire diverse teams overseeing Finance, Marketing & Admissions (sales), HR, Operations & Facilities, Admin, and IT, embodying the school's values and fostering a culture of excellence.

Commercial and Operational Performance

  • Strategic Investment: Support the Executive Principal in the delivery of strategic investments to enhance the quality of provision, making our school an enticing choice for both current and prospective families.
  • Financial Stewardship: Conduct continuous analysis of systems and processes, seeking improvements to positively impact the school's financial health.
  • Revenue Generation: Identify new income streams, through extra-curricular activities, partnerships and other services and optimize facilities usage to enhance profitability.
  • Cost Management & Smart Investments: Define and adapt the cost structure, continuously seeking opportunities for smart investments and cost optimisation.

Community Management, H&S, and Data Protection:

  • Communication Excellence: Foster seamless communication between the central office functional Heads, team members, parents and wider stakeholders, ensuring a cohesive and collaborative environment.
  • Safeguarding & Compliance: Champion a culture of child safeguarding, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and actively supporting transparent communication with the school and wider community.
  • Stakeholder Management: Effectively manage stakeholder relationships, addressing concerns, queries, and complaints with a solutions-oriented approach. Act as the legal representative of the school in dealings with public bodies and third parties, safeguarding the school's interests.
  • Continuous Improvement: Monitor and analyze current processes, implementing efficiencies to enhance customer service and satisfaction levels.

Candidate Profile

  • University Degree (ADE, Economics, Engineering or related); postgraduate studies (MBA, PDD) are highly valued.
  • Meaningful experience: at least 5 years as manager of a Finance (preferably) and/or Operations Department as well as experience in managing teams in services companies and/or highly regulated industries. Willing to step up to a General Management position. Experience in the school environment would be a plus (but not essential).
  • Personal interest for education; sensitivity about the intrinsic difficulties of working in a regulated environment.
  • Digital competences, agile usage of social media and common software. Experience with CRM software.
  • Languages: Spanish and English.
  • Skills: Leadership: management of multiple stakeholders, Comfortable with regularly switching between strategic mindset and operational execution, Strong communication skills, polished communication, verbally and in written form, Negotiation skills in transcultural situations, Ability to prioritise and manage workload and Analytical.
