Senior Tech Lead, AI & Machine Learning Location: Barcelona & London (hybrid) Travel: Regular UK - EU travel Role Summary We’re partnering with a large, international organisation to appoint a Senior Tech Lead who will guide the technical evolution of AI and machine learning capabilities across multiple business units. This position suits a senior technologist who combines architectural depth, AI expertise, and commercial awareness , and who enjoys working across teams and leadership layers to turn emerging technologies into scalable, production-ready solutions. What You’ll Do You’ll act as a senior technical authority for AI initiatives, shaping how intelligent products are designed, built, governed, and rolled out across a complex enterprise environment. Your remit will include: Setting architectural direction for shared AI services and platforms Designing solutions that can be deployed across multiple business entities without duplication or unnecessary cost Providing technical oversight of ML engineering, deployment pipelines, and operational readiness Establishing clear decision frameworks to support fast, transparent technical choices Evaluating new AI capabilities and vendors, with a strong focus on value, scalability, and sustainability Partnering with engineering leaders to build alignment across distributed teams Engaging senior stakeholders, helping them understand technical options and trade-offs in plain language Contributing to internal capability building through communities of practice and learning initiatives Key Responsibilities Lead the technical design of AI solutions from early exploration through to production use Ensure platforms and products are built to be robust, reusable, and cost-aware Identify and reduce technical risk through structured analysis and documentation Support early-stage experimentation while ensuring solutions can be industrialised Guide teams on best practices for cloud-based AI delivery and MLOps Maintain strong alignment with enterprise architecture, security, and data standards Keep abreast of developments in AI (including generative approaches) and advise on practical adoption Experience & Background 10 years’ experience in large-scale software or platform engineering roles Demonstrable experience delivering AI or data-driven systems in production Strong understanding of cloud architectures, ML lifecycles, and operational AI Experience working in complex, multi-team or multi-brand environments Confident operating at senior technical leadership level, influencing without direct authority Clear communicator able to support executive-level decision-making Willing and able to travel weekly between London and Barcelona
