Planning Consultant

Mantell Associates is partnered with a forward-thinking biopharmaceutical company, who is seeking a driven Planning Consultant to join their newly established planning team in Spain. This role offers a unique opportunity to map process flows, coordinate demand and manufacturing plans for active ingredients (APIs), and help structure the planning function from the ground up. Planning Consultant - Responsibilities: Map, document and optimise the full planning process flow - from demand management through manufacturing plans for APIs, semi-finished and finished products Propose and deploy planning frameworks to align demand forecasts, production capacities and inventory strategies with business objectives Coordinate demand and manufacturing planning for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and finished/semi-finished products, ensuring integration across supply, operations and commercial teams Define and monitor key planning performance indicators (KPIs) such as inventory turnover, coverage, production cycle times and service level metrics Work with team members to establish inventory targets, coverage models and production schedules based on business needs and supply constraints Utilise advanced Excel modelling and support the implementation/configuration of MRP systems to drive accurate planning output and transparency Collaborate cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Procurement and Finance to ensure planning decisions align with cost, quality and timeline objectives Drive continuous improvement in planning practices, translating data and performance insights into actionable process optimisations Planning Consultant - Requirements: Proven experience (5 years) in demand management, manufacturing planning or supply chain planning in the pharmaceutical industry, specifically with APIs, semi-finished and finished dosage forms Hands-on experience in mapping process flows, implementing or improving planning systems, and developing KPI-driven planning performance frameworks Advanced Excel skills (modelling, analysis, dashboards) and experience working with MRP/ERP systems in a manufacturing environment Strong analytical mindset, problem-solving skills and ability to translate planning data into meaningful business actions Excellent communication and collaboration skills in English; proficiency in Spanish or willingness to work in Spanish-speaking environment is advantageous Mantell Associates is a specialist Pharmaceutical and Life Science headhunting firm.
